La Manga is well-connected. By air, Murcia and Alicante airports are 30 and 50 minutes away respectively and are connected to most major UK airports with airlines such as RyanAir, Easy Jet, Monarch BMI Baby, Jet 2, servicing Murcia airport (San Javia). Alicante, again is serviced by most major UK airports and has flights from all over Europe. Madrid, Andalucia and Barcelona can be easily reached via motorway. Cartagena and Balsicas Railway stations allow easy access by train, and buses also run regularly. For information go to

La Costa Calida (the Warm Coast) rims the region of Murcia. Its climate is particularly temperate, with an average annual temperature of 17 °C, and can be as high as 21 °C June to September. Of special interest is the Mar Menor, the largest natural pool in the world, part of the Mediterranean, and a paradise for all types of water sports and with its fine-sand beaches.

Local Area

The villa is in a quiet part of La Manga but 10 minutes' walk away is the area known as "the heart of La Manga", the Plaza Bohemia has its own night market during the summer, while the restaurants, pubs and bars, which surround the plaza, cater for young and old. Spanish night life is well known for its ability to start late and finish early.

One area well worth visiting is the old fishing port, Cabo de Palos, which changes from a superb selection of waterside restaurants to bustling selection of "pubs" with music to suit all in the evening.

Surrounding Area

The region of Murcia, located between Valencia and Analgesia, is the site of powerful Carthaginian and roman settlements in antiquity while the long presence of the Moors determined its history throughout the Middle Ages. Famous today for its excellent fruit and vegetables.

Murcia, the capital of the regin, is located inland. The history of the city goes back to the year 800 and has many interesting places to visit.

Cartagena is the leading port in Murcia. Founded by the Carthaginians in 221 BC and originally named Carthago Nova, Cartagena has maintained its importance through the centuries. Its museum has excellent pre-Roman and Roman collections.
